Phantom Rock
Phantom Rock is one of the most interesting sightseeing destinations in Wayanad, located about 13 km from Kalpetta near Ambalavayal town. This rare rocky column is famous for its striking resemblance to a phantom skull, which gives it its name.
Standing tall at an elevation of 792 meters above sea level and surrounded by lush greenery, Phantom Rock is a natural wonder formed out of huge metamorphic rocks after centuries of erosion by wind and organic weathering. Locally, it's known as Cheengeri Mala or Thalappara.
Once at the top, you get a splendid view of the town comfortably nestled within the beautiful colours of nature. The scenic surroundings near Phantom Rock and nearby Edakkal Caves make it a popular spot for trekking and camping.
Note: Trekkers and campers need to carry their own gear, as there are no facilities at the site.
Visit Phantom Rock on a Wayanad sightseeing taxi tour, or book your Wayanad cab any time, 24/7.
