Karapuzha Dam

Karapuzha Dam is considered to be the second-largest earth dam in India. This reservoir, formed by nearly a dozen lakes merging together in the Karapuzha River (a small tributary of the Kabini River), is a fine place for a relaxing evening outing.

With a gentle breeze, an amazingly scenic sky, and a beautiful waterfront, Karapuzha Dam has become one of the must-visit destinations in Wayanad. Recently renamed as Karapuzha Mega Tourism, the area has undergone significant development during 2019–2021.

The vast catchment area and the greenery around are perfect for an evening photoshoot. During the monsoon season, the water reaches the brim of the dam — an amazing sight not to be missed.

Tip: Visit in the evening to enjoy the best experience. The place is open throughout the year and is a wonderful spot to unwind after a day of sightseeing.
