Forested banks of Kuruva Island reflected in the still Kabini River, Wayanad

Kuruva Island

Kuruva Island (also known as Kuruva Dweep) is a favourite destination among nature lovers and photographers in Wayanad. It's a protected river delta formed by a cluster of islets in the middle of River Kabini, densely populated with rich flora and fauna.

The island is uninhabited by humans but is home to many other living species. Covered thick with evergreen forests and surrounded by river streams, Kuruva Island is free from any disturbance or pollution — making it an untouched paradise.

Those who enjoy deep forest trekking particularly love the nature walk opportunities here. While entry is closed during the monsoon season, the island is a popular destination throughout the rest of the year. A visit to Kuruva Island will refresh both your body and mind — a perfect break from the daily hustle.

Note: Entry is closed during monsoon season (June–August) due to high water levels.
